1) Take notes on what happened in this chapter. The following questions might help you:

a. What person/place is associated to the chapter?

b. How was Hannah exposed or hurt?

c. How did she try to deal with this situation?

d. What is her message (if there is one)?

e. What did Clay observe at the time? How did he feel for Hannah then?

f. What are Clay´s "present" reactions?

Cassette 2A: Variety of tasks

Hi folks! 

So here's a list from which you can choose any task that you want to work on (and publish!) with regard to cassette 2A:

• Hypothesis-building / testing / modifying: I think the story will go on like …
• Sectionalized reading: try to describe your thoughts and feeling for smaller sections while reading
• Documenting impressions / feelings while reading
• Tasks that slow down the reading experience and thereby intensify the importance of what is being read: Transfer ideas of the text into pictures, illustrations, graphic structures, mind maps, time line, screenplay, statue, other text types (diary entry, newspaper article…
• Analysis of literary devices: What, Where, Why?
• Write a summary of a chapter
• Work on your vocab => word webs, create quizzes about words, ...
• Write a characterization of a main character, e.g. with a “Wanted”-Poster
• Add music and pictures to the chapters and say why you think they fit to the chapter
• Act out one scene and film it (Group activity!)
• ...

Hey everyone,

I just want to make sure that absolutely everybody knows what to do for their first blog post.

Remember that your blog post is not a summary of cassette 1B! It is way more than that. It is rather some kind of personal comment that offers you the opportunity to express and discuss your feelings and views on certain subjects, in our case now on cassette 1 side B in Thirteen Reasons Why. And since it is always hard to find a starting point, we´ll offer you three different “approaches” that you can use as guidelines (pick ONE – but don´t just answer the “question”! Keep in mind that a blog post typically features an interesting headline, etc.):

1. Comment on Hannah´s “second reason”. Can you understand her anger/humiliation?
2. Comment on Alex´s behavior. Can you comprehend his actions?
3. Is there something else in that chapter that you would really like to discuss/write about? Feel free to do so.
